Fall River: Man sentenced to prison for dragging officer

Fall River police announced on Friday that a 22-year-old man, Jeremias Cabral, was sentenced to two years in prison for dragging a veteran police officer with his ATV.

On Friday, the Fall River police declared that Jeremias Cabral, a 22-year-old man, received a two-year jail term for pulling a veteran police officer with his ATV.

According to the police, Cabral hit the officer on Robeson Street on November 4 and dragged the officer several hundred feet while trying to flee a traffic stop.
 
The officer sustained serious injuries and was taken to Rhode Island Hospital. Fortunately, the officer was later released.
 
After a trial, Cabral was found guilty of assault, battery, and negligent operation of a recreational vehicle.
 
Furthermore, Cabral was arrested and charged with assault and larceny in an incident that sparked an Amber Alert in Dartmouth on December 1.
